Alianza
The Alianza Society celebrates Latino culture and experience through programs, workshops and lectures that focus on Latino heritage, address socio-political issues that impact the Latino community and raise awareness about issues of tolerance.
Ally Group
Ally works to educate the community about issues concerning homosexuality, to create a safe and supportive environment for all students and to sponsor workshops, panels and speakers which address issues of concern to the lesbian, gay and bisexual members of our community.
Amnesty International
This branch of the worldwide organization seeks to educate the College community about issues of human rights and about specific cases of human rights abuses.
A-Team
The A-Team originated from BACCHUS (Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students), which is a national collegiate chapter for alcohol awareness. They offer fun and interesting activities as an alternative to drinking, and promote responsibility rather than condemn the use of alcohol.
Business Club
The Business Club provides Saint Michael's students with the opportunity to explore business concepts outside of the classroom by providing opportunities to attend seminars, hear special lectures and get involved in business-related activities.
Cheerleading
The Saint Michael's cheerleaders work to compete in various cheerleading competitions.
Chorale
This performance group specializes in the study and performance of choral literature for mixed voices in a variety of styles. The chorale has performed in New York City, Montreal, Ottawa and Washington D.C. in recent years.
Coffee House Series
The Coffee House Series brings a diverse group of bands to campus for performances throughout the year. Musical genres have ranged from progressive rock and jazz, to folk and reggae.
Computer Club
This club aims to increase knowledge of computer science, promote interest in computer machinery and provide a means of communication among students interested in computers.
Cycling Club
The Cycling Club works to introduce new people to mountain and road biking and to field a competitive racing team for both the fall mountain bike and spring road seasons. Club funds are used to make competitive cycling as affordable as possible for students by subsidizing travel and entry fees.
Dance Team
The Dance Team consists of approximately 14 dancers who perform self-choreographed dances at the women's and men's home basketball games, in addition to acting as a "spirit team" on the sidelines.
Defender
The Defender is the student-run weekly newspaper of Saint Michael's College, offering news, features, opinions and many other interesting sections that appeal to a variety of readers. The articles are written entirely by student reporters, many enrolled in the several writing for media classes offered through the journalism department.
Diversity Coalition
The primary goal of the Diversity Coalition is to encourage open dialogue, educational opportunity and the chance to celebrate diversity in all human culture and experience. The Diversity Coalition serves to educate and promote awareness of issues such as gender, race, religion and ethnicity.
Drama Club
The Drama Club funds activities for those students who are Fine Arts majors or simply enjoy the spirit of drama. This club sponsors speakers, trips and student directing projects.
The Echo
The Echo is the student online publication of Saint Michael's College. Inside the Echo you'll find news, sports, movie reviews, relationship advice, outdoor adventure stories, editorials, concert reviews and more.
Education Club
The mission of the Education Club is to provide an ongoing public forum for aspiring teachers to understand and express their emerging vocational commitment to a life of service through teaching.
Fire and Rescue
Fire and Rescue staffs and runs a full-service rescue squad and fire department. Fire operates as a battalion of the Colchester Fire Department, while Rescue covers four area towns. Fire and Rescue answers over 1,300 emergency calls a year. Entry level training is offered in the fall and spring semesters for both units. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and get involved.
Founders Society
The Founders Society is Saint Michael’s student ambassador organization. Ambassadors work with the Admission and Alumni Relations staff to foster strong relationships with prospective students and alumni through a variety of campus and off-campus activities.
Free the Planet
Free the Planet serves as a club to help better the environment of Saint Michael's as well as the world. Free the Planet provides speakers and activities to promote a better environment.
Free Riding Club
The Free Riding Club is open to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities who wish to represent Saint Michael's in freestyle, boarder/skier X, slopestyle or halfpipe competitions.
Guitar Club
The Guitar Club is a close-knit group whose aim is to provide a forum for guitar players of all ability levels, where they can share ideas and music with other students. The club also sponsors performances with various musical styles on campus.
Hilltop
The Hilltop annually publishes a yearbook reviewing the past year.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Society
The MLK Society is an inter-racial group dedicated to promoting the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting and sponsoring programs, lectures and workshops, including the annual Martin Luther King Convocation.
Math Club
The Math Club strives to bring math out of the classroom and into the real world. Events include speakers, games, films, competitions and trips to math expositions.
MOVE (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts)
MOVE gives students an outlet to serve others in the community through a variety of programs.

Peace and Justice
The Peace and Justice Committee promotes the dignity of every human person, seeks to develop a justice network with other groups on campus and provides the community with events and programs about issues of peace, nonviolence, justice and equality for all people.
Philosophy Club
This club facilitates philosophical discussion through movies, topic-specific debates and computer communication.
Photography Club
With 60+ members, Photography Club projects include compiling a book of student photography, organizing gallery shows in the McCarthy Arts Center, and arranging photography workshops. Recently the Photography Club played a role in having a darkroom installed in the Sloane Art Center on North Campus.
Political Science Club
This academic club is non-partisan and endeavors to raise political awareness within the campus community, particularly in areas of national significance.
Psychology Society
This club helps to connect interested students to the field of Psychology and to explore professional opportunities. This is done through speakers, panel discussions and attendance at conventions.
Rugby (Men's & Women's)
This club provides any Saint Michael's undergraduate the opportunity to play Rugby. Saint Michael's Rugby is a member of New England Rugby Football Union, Rugby-East, and USA Rugby.
Science Club
The Science Club is for students of all majors to broaden their scientific experiences and prove that science can actually be a lot of fun. The club's activities include natural history hikes and field trips to science museums and botanic gardens in Vermont, Montreal and Boston. The club also sponsors lectures by scientists and graduate students sharing their investigations and experiences.
SGAC (Student Global AIDS Campaign)
The Student Global AIDS Campaign (SGAC) is a national organization that seeks to stop the global AIDS pandemic through advocacy and education. The Saint Michael's chapter has been influential in the adoption of progressive AIDS policies by seven 2004 presidential candidates. SGAC also works with Senator Patrick Leahy to increase funding to the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria. SGAC meets bi-weekly to discuss strategies to fight HIV/AIDS in our community and world wide.
SMC Conservatives
The goal of the SMC Conservatives is to encourage the diversity of thought on campus by providing an alternative view. In addition to moderating the campus atmosphere, the Conservatives also provide a grass-roots organization for the election of Republican candidates on a local and national level.
Snowboarding Club
This club functions to help snowboarders get together and travel to mountains throughout New England to engage in this sport. The club annually brings members to either attend or participate in the U.S. Open Snowboard Championship.
Sleepless Knights (a capella group)
The co-ed a capella group on campus, Sleepless Knights is a student organization that is dedicated to the promotion of a capella both on campus and in the community.
Snowboarding Club
Student Association (S.A.)
The S.A. is the student governing board of Saint Michael's College. The S.A. is completely run by students, and is charged with setting policy and allocating funds to student organizations on campus.
Track Club
The Track Club is devoted to promoting running and field events for students. Club members participate in track and field meets, road races, trail races and marathons. The Track Club welcomes athletes of all abilities, particularly those looking for self-improvement and increased physical fitness, as well as seasoned athletes looking for hard-core competition opportunities.
Ultimate Frisbee Club
This 25-plus person group hosts tournaments and travels statewide for fun, co-ed community-oriented team competitions. The club has daily practice outside Durick Library, Monday - Friday at 4:00 p.m.
The club focuses on serving up a P-Day Hazy Day Frisbee Tournament and while Ultimate Frisbee is new this year, frisbee clubs, according to Jennie Cernosia, director of student activities, have been playing on the Saint Michael's green since the 1980's.
Wind and Jazz Ensembles
The Wind Ensemble performs concert and symphonic band music that embraces a wide spectrum of styles. The group performs on campus several times each year and each spring tours though out the Northeast.
The Jazz Ensemble performs the music of the big band and swing eras. The group also participates in the spring tour.
Wilderness Program
Each year the Wilderness Program offers a full-slate of recreational excursions for students to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Rock climbing, skiing/snowboarding, hiking, camping and orienteering are just a few of the types of trips offered. The Wilderness Program also rents recreational equipment to students.
WWPV
WWPV is the student-run campus radio station. Most DJ's are students and all students are invited to apply for a slot -- no prior experience is needed. There are also opportunities to join the staff of WWPV.
